Hello! I’m Katie Breitenmoser, and I live near Merrill, Wisconsin, where my husband and I raise our five children on our family-run dairy farm. My journey into midwifery began with the home birth of our second child. It was during that transformative experience that I realized how pregnancy and birth care can be deeply personalized, engaging, and compassionate. I also recognized that these qualities do not compromise safety—instead, they are essential to it.
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that childbirth is an important and empowering, yet completely normal, physiological process—one that deserves to be respected and safeguarded. I am passionate about ensuring that midwifery care is accessible to all dedicated parents.
Over the past twelve years, I have attended hundreds of out-of-hospital births across north-central Wisconsin. My path to becoming a midwife included multiple apprenticeships with active midwifery practices and a rigorous correspondence-based didactic course. In March 2018, I achieved certification as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and obtained licensure as a midwife in the state of Wisconsin. I maintain my Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) training and hold up-to-date certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation and adult CPR.
When I’m not working with families, I enjoy spending time with my own, gardening, and staying active in my community. My personal goal outside of midwifery? Finding a way to keep the chickens out of my garden!
