About
Hi! I'm Katie Breitenmoser. My husband and I live near Merrill, and we raise our five children on our dairy farm. I was pulled toward midwifery after the home birth of our second baby when I realized that care during pregnancy and birth can be personalized, engaging, and compassionate. I also realized that those attributes don't come at the expense of safety, but that they contribute to it. My philosophy regarding childbirth is that it is an important and empowering, yet completely normal physiological process which should be respected and safeguarded. I am passionate about making midwifery care available to all committed parents.
I have attended hundreds of out-of-hospital births in north-central Wisconsin over the course of twelve years as a birth assistant and student midwife in active midwifery practices. I worked toward my midwifery certification and license by way of multiple apprenticeships and a correspondence didactic course. I became certified as a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) and licensed as a midwife in the state of Wisconsin in March of 2018. I am ALSO certified ('Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics'), I maintain my Neonatal Resuscitation and adult CPR certifications, and I am very committed to continued education.
When I'm not working with clients and their families, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, and being involved in my community. My main non-professional goal in life is to find a way to keep the chickens out of my garden.
